An Update on OQYC 2009

As many of you have noticed, OQYC 2009 appears to have not be happening.
OQYC is all about student involvement in every stage of planning. Every year it takes the incredible dedication of a few students to make OQYC happen.
This year, though we had lots of people who wanted to help, no student who really wanted to step up and be the primary driving force appeared.
Our hope is that we'll be back for OQYC 2010 if we can raise some enthusiasm. If you're interested in seeing OQYC continue, please drop us a line.
Thank you all,
Joe DeBlasio

Help OQYC Survive!
Submitted by Joe on Thu, 2008-11-20 23:15.
For the past several years, OQYC has been primarily youth-run. Though there has been a great deal of help from some key adults, the ultimate success of the conference has always been up to the student organizers.
Now many of the main organizers of OQYC have ended up far away at college and are unable to help make OQYC happen! Blake, our intrepid leader from last year, is now away at Yale. Stew, our leader for a few years before Blake, is now away at Dartmouth (whew, why so many Ivys?). The rest of us who love OQYC (like myself) are away at our respective schools too.
Thus, OQYC NEEDS YOU!. If you've got a strong interest in getting Oregon's queer youth together, and want to help out, drop us a line. We'd love to hear from you.
With Love,
Joe (from 1500 miles away)
